Although Pseudomona are very helpful in cleaning up the environment, they can also cause many different diseases. Pseudomonas can cause endocarditis, respiratory infections, bacteremia, central nervous system infections, ear infections, eye infections, bone and joint infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and skin infections. These infections only happen when the defenses of the tissue are poorer than normal. This bacterium is naturally resistant to many antibiotics due to the fact that its outer membrane can withstand them. Pseudomonas can also cause food spoilage because it is able to survive at low temperatures. One example is in dairy spoilage such as cheese and milk.
